'Both Thorns and Thistles Grow'
(Genesis 3:17)
Hailing from the East-Coast of Scotland; Connor studied in the Highland capital of Inverness before travelling around the United Kingdom.
While traditional literature and the visual arts have always regaled him, Connor soon discovered that this love extended beyond the bounds of the page and could be placed within his hands.
He spent many of his formative years creeping through the tall grass of the Hoenn region on his trusty purple Gameboy Advance, and going on action-platformer collectathons on his homely Playstation 2; all the while being exposed to more and more adventures and experiences - of both literary and interactive fiction.
While I'd been reading from a young age, it wasn't until my later years that I tried my hand at taking those narratives I'd formed in my head and putting them onto the page.
It took me too long to realise that the dream I had always held, to not only experience a new generation of videogames but to lend a hand in their creation, could come to be - and that's when my journey to writing interactive fiction started.
As such, alongside a selection of poetry - in Scots and English - and literary academia, you'll find some self-published videogames and theorised Game Design Documents...
The problem with being more literary minded is that I often know what the characters, locales, and landscapes of my tales look like - when they're nestled within the confines of my mind.
However, I could sometimes find myself a little overwhelmed with choice as my mind constantly adjusted and formatted this imagined concept art - as such, more due to necessity, I started creating small illustrations to keep my game aesthetics' consistent.
So, with that minor disclaimer out of the way - should you wish to - feel free to peruse the eclectic mix of 17th-century cult members, nomadically-inclined musical fleas, and excavation robots with their own personalised climates...
While I may not have a niche to which I have to play to quite yet, the bulk of my work tends to revolve on themes of... - the relationships of the oppressed to the oppressor, and vice versa. - the voices of rural or nomadic communities. - the nature of the postcolonial; within art, politics, and society.
However, I will hold myself accountable for my very biased love of classic adventure storytelling in tales such as Treasure Island, Uncharted: Drakes Fortune, and Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark.
